Empathy allows someone to gain alot of insight into what a person is thinking but how much prying is ethical? To me I believe only the energy a person is pushing out around them should be read and any "digging" is an invasion of their personal privacy. What do you think?

I quite agree with you, although different views on personal ethics will vary from time to time.

well some times I view the surface emotions of people, but if they try to fake it most of the time I just try to go deeper just to see, which I should stop doing so.

Why? It can solve trust issues simply by going deeper. No reason not too. And if they are untrustworthy, then at least you would know about it beforehand and save yourself from getting "stabbed in the back" as it were.
